Orange Cassidy is standing in a black space alone, his eyes are closed. He suddenly opens his eyes, he moves his head left and right, seeing nothing. When he returns to looking in front of him, there is now a small table with two seats on either side. The chair closest to him is empty, while the other sits a masked figure who is all too familiar. As Orange cautiously approaches the table, Fire Ant takes out a decanter of whiskey and two glasses. Orange slowly sits down.
Orange Cassidy:
What’s this all about?
Fire Ant:
Can’t two friends share a drink?
Orange Cassidy:
We’re not friends.
Fire Ant:
We’re not enemies either.
Orange Cassidy:
There’s a start.
Fire Ant opens the decanter and pour some whiskey into each glass, sliding one over to Orange. Orange looks at the glass, then back at being across from him. Fire Ant holds up his glass in acknowledgement of Orange and then takes a drink. Orange picks up the glass and takes a small drink.
Orange Cassidy:
Why don’t you cut to the chase?
Fire Ant puts down his drink.
Fire Ant:
Alright look, we’re not getting anywhere. When we fight with each other we lose matches.
Orange Cassidy:
So, what’s your point?
Fire Ant:
We have a big match this week, so why don’t we just have one of us in control.
Orange Cassidy:
You’ll just trust me?
Fire Ant:
That’s not exactly what I mean.
Fire Ant reaches for something in his back pocket and pulls out a revolver. He shows Orange the barrel, puts in a single bullet and then gives it a spin before clicking it into place, before placing the revolver on the table.
Fire Ant:
So I figure we should figure who is in control once and for all.
Orange looks nervously at the gun.
Orange Cassidy:
This will get rid of one of us forever?
Fire Ant:
Maybe? I don’t know, this is uncharted territory. We know why I went away last time, but I came back. Why not give it a try.
Fire Ant picks the gun up from the table, puts it to his temple and squeezes the trigger.
Click
It was empty, he holds the gun out to Orange. Orange takes it, looking it over before putting it to his own head. He stares down Fire Ant as he slowly moves his finger to the trigger. Locking eyes with Fire Ant and he is prepared to squeeze. A warm sensation comes over his hand, removing the revolver from him. Orange turned his head to see the light female figure.
Female Figure:
There’s no need for this.
Suddenly the darkness is gone, showing that they are in the kitchen Orange had seen before in the flashbacks. The figure has more detail this time, it is a woman in her 30’s, wearing high waisted jeans, a purple sweater and having long red hair. Her face is still not clear, so it is just a spot of light. She steps in between Orange and Fire Ant, caressing both of their faces.
Female Figure:
You two remind me so much of your father.
That notion visibly upsets both Orange and Fire Ant, but neither dare speak back to her.
Female Figure:
So the issue is that you two keep fighting each other on what to do and it’s getting in the way?
They both nod.
Female Figure:
You two are more similar than you realize. If you just work together and trust each other, then the sky's the limit for what you can accomplish. Will you two at least try? For me?
Orange looks at Fire Ant, Fire Ant does the same. They both nod in unison,
Fire Ant:
Beat Spud.
Orange Cassidy:
Win the title.
Orange Cassidy/Fire Ant:
Run this show.
The Female Figure seems content with this. I would say she was smiling, but ya know, she don’t got a face. She leans close to Orange and whispers something to him.
Female Figure:
Your little girlfriend seems nice, but be careful. Make sure you’re both getting what you want out of it.
She stands back up straight, looking at the two.
Female Figure:
I’m so proud of you.
At that moment Orange quickly sits up in bed letting out a gasp. He is in a dark hotel room, laying in bed, breathing heavily. He looks around to reacquaint himself with his surroundings before he feels a hand on his chest. Orange turns to Priscilla Kelly in the bed lying next to him, she clearly had been woken up by his sudden movement and has a look of concern on her face.
Priscilla Kelly:
Are you alright?
Orange takes a brief second to compose himself before speaking.
Orange Cassidy:
Yeah...I just….I..
Orange looks down and then turns to Priscilla again.
Orange Cassidy:
Have I ever told you about my mother?
Priscilla sits up, now having a small smile come across her face and intrigue in her eyes.
Priscilla Kelly:
No you haven’t, but I can’t wait to hear about her.
