INT. black screen
NARRATOR (Old Robbie) (V.O.)
I was never a man of religious faith, but somewhere deep down, I always had a little faith in the universe, that somehow, everything was happening for a bigger plan. I am still wondering how my story will end, what MY purpose was...
INT. Monterey Conference Center, Monterey CA - 1985
PAN TO:
INT. Spotlight on man in a wrestling ring
The ANNOUNCER dressed in a dark suit holds up a microphone.
ANNOUNCER
Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and girls of all ages, Welcome to Spartacus Wrestling Association. Tonight we have a big show planned for you.
QUICK CUT :
INT. Backstage
We are introduced to YOUNG ADULT ROBBIE, about twenty years old. He is watching from behind the curtain. His hair is cut in a mullet. His gear is red and black.
From the side, a BIG MAN with thinning hair and a cigar out one side of his mouth pats him on the shoulder.
BIG MAN
Listen, kid. Going to need you to throw this fight.
ROBBIE looks at the BIG MAN confused.
BIG MAN
We can't afford to have Crusher look bad. He's a big name from Canada and the New York scene and you're just a local rookie. You get it right? Sometimes you gotta take one for the team.
The BIG MAN walks away. ROBBIE looks a mix of angry and distraught.
QUICK CUT:
The camera shows that both ROBBIE and RENAUD "THE CRUSHER" BELANGER and facing each other. ROBBIE has his fists up. CRUSHER looks winded. ROBBIE moves in, locks up with CRUSHER.
CRUSHER
Just pin me kid. I can't do this.
ROBBIE moves him around the ring, giving the illusion of them struggling.
ROBBIE
But... I was told...
CRUSHER shakes his head.
CRUSHER
I'm getting too old for this. Pin me. I'll take care of the suits.
The TWO MEN dance around the ring before CRUSHER goes to a knee, giving ROBBIE the setup for his SHOWSTOPPER move. With CRUSHER down, ROBBIE goes for the pin.
NARRATOR (Old Robbie) (V.O.)
I owed Crusher. Not that I liked that he gave me a win, because I was capable of beating him, but it was the level of respect he gave me. A respect I was all too happy to return by not destroying him in that ring.
QUICK CUT:
INT. Backstage, locker room
ROBBIE is unlacing his boot when the rest of the locker room starts hooting. ROBBIE looks up to see that CRUSHER has entered the room. He takes a seat next to ROBBIE, who is surprised to see him.
CRUSHER
You have talent kid, I appreciate that, however, you need to move up from these shitty little venues. Listen, I got a contact with the WWF. I'll whisper in his ear about you.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
I owed Crusher a lot. He got my foot in the door. He helped get me to being the Showstopper. Everything else that happened? That was on me. I'm the only one to blame for my addictions. It was devastating though, having to attend Crusher's funeral seven years later. He was still young, my age now actually. He had a young girlfriend and a life, but an undiagnosed enlarged heart had claimed his life.

Present Day - Germany
Robbie waited at the bar, although all that was in his glass was Coca-Cola. The bartender had given him a strange look but when Robbie had flashed his sobriety chip, the man had nodded and left him. Moments later, someone sits beside him.
"It's done. The Amazon went and saw her."
A familiar female voice says out of eyeshot of the camera but without seeing her face, it's hard to place.
Robbie takes a sip of his drink.
"Good. I don't want there to be any slip ups. It's why I asked you to help me with this. Bret can't get any whiff of me helping her or he'll kick me out."
"Don't get why you care so much. You've never even met her, and as far as I know, she is pretty sure about hating the guts of the man she thinks abandoned her pregnant mother."
Robbie nods, "I know. But I wasn't given the opportunity to even know she existed. Her mother made it clear that she wanted me out of her life."
The woman next to him laughs. "Restraining orders are pretty clear about that sort of thing."
"She didn't tell me she was pregnant. I would have..."
"Would have what? Tried to get custody? Told your own pregnant wife you were having an affair with some random woman you met? Sent money? You can't beat yourself up for shit you couldn't control, or go back and change. I like the chick. I'm not just doing this because I owe you. She's a moral compass I don't have and definitely need sometimes. Once your three months is over, do you plan on telling her everything?"
Robbie turns toward the woman. "I am hoping she figures it out before then."
The woman laughs. "You found a lot of loopholes sir. I gotta appreciate the tactics. Well, I gotta head back. Said I'd be gone until three then we're getting food. Don't worry old timer, I won't let anyone touch her unless it's within the confines of a match."
The woman puts some Euros down on the counter.
"Good luck in your match. Frankly, I hope you kick that Admiral guy right in his way too perfect cakehole."
She leaves, but the camera only catches her back, which is covered by a black hoodie. Robbie takes a sip of his soda, a smile tipping the corners.
