Big Homunculus sits at a table in a coffee shop in a suit several sizes too small. He is self conscious and unsure of what to do so looks around and sees a man reading a newspaper. Homunculus doesn't have a newspaper, so he holds his hands out in front of himself and stares at his palms. Every crease and wrinkle in the paler flesh of his palm suddenly becomes a vibrant path, trodden in the vast fabric of the past, carrying with it stories dating back to the trials of the earliest being on Pangaea. The lines raise before his eyes and cross over; the lineage of time is no long longer a given, for we live in-
Gordon
Hey friend!
Big Homunculus
Everything from one. The present is a speck on the cosmic map so tiny it might not exist, while also being absolutely everything that is....
Hey friend!
Big Homunculus slowly raises his head to look at the smiling, handsome face of Gordon.

Homunculus shakes his head and blinks.
Big Homunculus
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH. Oh my goodness, Gordon! You snuck up on me.
Gordon
Nobody could sneak up on a ninja like you. I knew Hayley was meeting up with you to start work on the book together - she's just buying a new pen - and I know you guys are gonna be working closely together for a while on this.

Homunculus has fear written across his face.
Gordon
I just wanted to say thanks for giving her your time like this. I know you're busy whooping ass with your lawyer and personal trainer, but Hayley really needed a subject like you to get her career going, so thanks for doing us this solid. Meeting you has really been a blessing, friend.
Big Homunculus
Oh, it is really-
Gordon
You don't have to say anything, save it for her. Look, I've got to go hand out resumés. The little person association isn't willing to give me work at the moment due to a...dispute over something. Anyway yeah, have a good one and thanks for looking after Hayley at that bondage party, she said you made her feel really comfortable. I love just saying her name. She makes my heart sing.

Homunculus spreads the most uncomfortable smile possible across his face and nods in appreciation as Gordon heads out of the cafe, meeting Hayley at the door and giving her a kiss on the cheek before going on his way.
Hayley goes to the counter and orders something before taking a seat across from Homunculus.

Hayley Littleton
Good morning.
Big Homunculus
Hello, Hayley Littleton.
Hayley Littleton
You really don't know the meaning of playing it cool. I see you didn't blow up that house, afterall.
Big Homunculus
Which one? I mean...no, I was found not guilty as opposed to innocent. See, I am still flawed and therefore interesting.
Hayley Littleton
You don't have to prove that to me, trust me. I got a twenty minute lecture from Gordon on the way here about what a wonderful man you are. You know Gordon, the man whose life you tried to ruin?
Big Homunculus
I am familiar, yes. Big, intimidating Gordon. He could cave my hand in without an ounce of effort and why shouldn't he?
Hayley Littleton
He's unemployed because of you. Anyway fuck it, let's get on with the biography. I want to start from the start and get to know you from the beginning. What are your earliest memories?
Big Homunculus
He told me what pegging is. Don't disrespect the method, if you cannot comprehend the result.
Hayley Littleton
Is this your scum bag way of getting out of this? Doing mental gymnastics until I'm convinced I'm unable to tell your story.
Big Homunculus
I want this story told more than ever, but you must abandon language as you know it and seek what has been left behind.
(Homunculus leans forwards and stares into Hayley's soul, speaking in a low, soft voice)
It makes my heart sing.
Good morning.
Big Homunculus
Hello, Hayley Littleton.
She glances at his ill-fitting suit and raises an eyebrow.

A waiter brings over a tray with two coffees.
How did he do this?Big Homunculus
What is this?
Hayley Littleton
These are skinny lattés. Not that you're fat or anything, I just couldn't be bothered to ask what you wanted and got you my order. So yeah, where did it all start.
What is this?

Big Homunculus raises the skinny latté to his mouth with great trepidation, sniffs it, pokes his tongue into it, then takes a cautious sip. As the caffeine enters his system his pupils dilate, his palms become maps of the universe and visions of the earliest homo sapiens rattle around his brain. Homunculus hears the howl of the wolf, the scream of the chimp, and the roar of the lion. He sees a sky of stars with one burning brighter than the rest. With no planets for perspective, it is hard to tell if the brightest star is falling, or if the rest of the stars are moving upwards and it is staying put, but the brightest star is left stranded in the vast emptiness of space before, with great velocity, it suddenly comes into contact with earth. The atmosphere wears away the mighty star until it is merely a glowing pebble which crashes furiously into some dense forrest.
In a hut, a cry is heard in a foreign language, but Homunculus knows that cry means, "It's a boy!"
Homunculus is staring straight ahead at Hayley. She waves her tiny hands in front of his face and he does not register her.

Hayley Littleton
You've not died, have you?
You've not died, have you?
Moments pass and Hayley begins to look concerned but Homunculus turns his head and blinks at her. Can you blink at someone? Homunculus can.
Big Homunculus
Words are inventions of man, and no man made invention can answer your question. You are trying to describe the unbelievable and the intangible using a strict code of 26 symbols known as the alphabet, but it cannot be done. You can write sentence after sentence, but you will never capture what I am by simply writing sentences.

Hayley blinks in astonishment.
Hayley Littleton
What have you been reading since I last saw you?
Big Homunculus
I met a brilliant stranger on a bus, and he unravelled the precariously delicate nature of language before my very eyes until words regressed into organised noises.

Hayley leans forward, deeply intrigued by Homunculus in a sincere way for the first time.

Hayley ponders on this, as it would appear to be the confused musings of an already stressed mind that has finally snapped and been reduced to rambling madness, but there's something in this that speaks to her, on a level she cannot explain to herself.
Working hard, pushing my boundaries, making friends, defeating evil, setting a good example, being loved...none of the above. I tried many things and chose wrestling because every time I strike a man and change his physical structure, every time a restrain a fighting opponent who is desperate to damage me, every time I feel my opponent's heart break in my hands as their taut muscles go loose and weak under duress, every time a born fighter - desperate to win at all odds - has the wind knocked out of them and lets out an involuntary grunt of pain...Hayley Littleton
You want me to write....art?
Big Homunculus
Yes. Feelings, not words.
Hayley Littleton
I see...so give me something to work with here. Your beginnings might be a little too much to get into on a first meeting, but I am curious about this: why wrestling? Of all the ways to feed yourself why wrestling? Why not...anything else? You like spandex?

Hayley is frozen in place as Homunculus pulls back into his chair. She looks at him for the first time, not as an offensive joke, nor a repugnant threat to her happiness or a tool for her future, but as a man.
Big Homunculus
Do you peg Gordon?
Hayley Littleton
For fuck's sakes.
